In this episode of isolation stories they use a video call to film the conversation between the two characters this is very different from the usual drama series that we see on tv.This is because of the national lockdown. The producers have decided to use mainly 2 camera angles that are set up to be like a video call. In this episode there are only two characters this is because it is a therapy zoom call session this is due to lockdown because they have to stay home. The locations that are used are homes they do this so they can make many episodes without having to risk breaking lockdown restrictions.

1.What are the creative limitations faced by the ITV by the impositions of lockdown rules?because of the national lockdown restrictions they couldn't have a filming crew to get different camera angles and high quality shots therefore they had to use the stars partners to film this limited the creativity of the show.

2.What was the impact on technical crew of lockdown restrictions? The technical crew had to explain to the stars how to use the equipment but couldn't be there personally this limits the amount of things that they can do.

3.What creative solutions were found for each off the following production stages:

Writing-The writers were not allowed to speak face to face so they had to have a google hangout chat to write the scrips one of the writers wrote the script in a shed int he back of his garden.

Rehearsals-

Filming-They had to give sanitised equipment to the stars for them to film by themselves. The way this worked was because they used very simple camera angles so didn't need to much work to set them up.

Editing-The directors edited the footage from home and then sent it of to a post production team that finished the edit then it was screened.

Staged

The Vicar of Dibley

5 similarities

1.In both of these shows they use web camera positions to film this is interesting because of the growing popularity of video calls and meetings over lockdown.

2.Both of these tv shows start with the confusion of the video call and stream by turning on the camera or trying to get the other persons attention.

3.The visuals of these two tv shows are similar in the respect of the stars are sitting in there house looking at the camera talking to other people.

4.The editing in these episodes are very similar in the fact that it is very minimal and there are not big visual effects this is because it would be very hard to add them with the lockdown rules so they have no green screens or any high quality equipment.

5.The final similarity between these shows are they both use the lockdown measures and rules to add to the narrative of the shows.

How are the main characters introduced? The main character was introduced straight away however the other characters were introduced when dancing to tiktok songs. What character types are they supposed to represent?Nira represents a scared character. Emi was the most confident one out of the group.Sam is the most serious one out of the characters.Aiden is the very silly and messes around more than the rest. Chris is the most shy. What are their individual personality traits and family and social backgrounds and how are these depicted?

Emi-very confident and chatty.

Nira-nervous and scared

sam-serious and trustworthy

Chris-shy but nice

Aiden-Funny and confident

What elements of new technology/online culture/social media are incorporated in the way the characters interact and how the programme is constructed? The characters interact through a video call. This is because they are in lockdown restrictions so they cannot meet face to face. What, if any elements of what we see, is non-diegetic,i.e. do we ever see events not mediated through webcams/phone cameras/ zoom calls, etc? We don't see any events that aren't through a camera. They could be sending videos they record to each other or on a video call but there isn't any event that happens where they do not film from a phone. What effect does this have for the viewer and how we relate to the characters or action? The viewer will relate to all the way these shots are filmed because they have probably been talking to friends and families on video calls throughout lockdown.

How does the episode use Thriller, Crime or Horror conventions to set up it's central mystery?I think that the episode uses thriller.I think it mainly uses this when she is talking about the neighbour and when Luke shows her the video. Give examples and say in what ways you think Lockdown plays with our narrative expectations?I think that lockdown starts of very calm and then throughout the episode they build lots of tension.
